Holiday Giving Program
The Helping Hands Association provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, as well as Christmas gifts, toys and/or clothing items for families, children and seniors or singles who are in need. All requests must come through an authorized social service program. Recipients must be residents of Northborough.
November 21, 2020 - Distribution Day
Due to the impact of COVID-19 the traditional Thanksgiving distribution day looked a whole lot different! For the safety of all, the annual gently used winter gear drive was paused. NHHA reached out to individual sponsors who fulfilled the requests for 128 brand new winter coats. Christmas came early as we included gift cards for the children in lieu of the toys and clothing items that would normally be collected in December.
The event was moved to the Northborough Senior Center and all recipients were asked to stay in their vehicles and wear their masks. Spirits were bright as folks drove from station to station to pick up their Christmas gift cards and all the fixings for Thanksgiving.
The success of this event was made possible through the generous donations of individuals, schools, churches, local business and community organizations. To all who donated funds, gift cards, food, coats and festive decor, thank you for your part in Making Spirits Bright for 256 adults and 134 children who needed a "helping hand".
Special thanks to St. Bernadette School and Parish, St. Rose of Lima Parish and Thrift Shop, Church of Nativity, Trinity Church, Northborough Lions Club, Northborough Mom’s Group, Northboro Junior Woman's Club, Northborough Rotary, The Northborough Police Association, Northborough Town Hall Employees, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Employees, Juniper Hill Golf Course, Abu Construction, Yellicks Farm, the Northborough Food Pantry and the Northborough Senior Center for your continued support.
